Home of Laura and Grant Gilbert
3 Catalina Dr
Rockport, TX 78382
Casa Catalina” aka the “Happy House” is appropriately coined by the owners Laura and Grant Gilbert. This festive, coastal home is a work of art in itself. From the solid teak front door, up the custom made stairwell, onto the Arizona pine floors you’ll find the Gilbert’s immense collection of original art by local Texas artists and artists from Colorado, Utah and Florida. Art pieces are from the Gilbert’s travels to Isla Mujeres, the Rockport Art Festival, Estelle Galleries and Houston Art Festivals. The artists Joey Blazek, Johnnie Martell (son of John Martell), Darby Freeman, Dolan Geiman, Mike “Ryno” Ryan and Fred Fisher create the vibrant and colorful coastal atmosphere with mediums ranging from oil to mixed media to the traditional Japanese print process called Gyotaku. Find a spot at the post Harvey rustic outdoor bar made from reclaimed wood from Wimberly and enjoy a conversation over a beverage. Swing in the cool hanging swings that adorn the tall covered patio next to the inviting pool or lounge by the cozy stone fireplace while enjoying the view down the canal to Little Bay. The “Happy House is a gem from every viewpoint.
