Rockport, TX 78382

This classic, traditional, stucco and tile roof, two story home is owned by Hugh Wilson of Houston, a long time fisherman in Rockport.  It was designed by Houston architect Don Minzenmeyer and built for Mr. Wilson by local builder Al Johnson in 1995. This home was designed and built to be wheelchair friendly, which includes an elevator, wide walls and a wide shower. Adorning the impressive entry to the home are commissioned, handcrafted ceramic door tiles created by local and regionally recognized ceramic and Rockport Art Festival poster artist Nanci Barnes. Welcoming you into this fabulous five bedroom home is a large painting of the much adored migratory white pelicans “White Pelicans on Little Bay” by renowned local artist Al Barnes. The warm, maple paneled  walls and tile floors along with the open floor plan offer a comfortable space for the frequent large and small gatherings of family and friends. Adding to Mr. Wilson’s art collection is another large painting by Al Barnes of his highly collectable, mesmerizing Rockport marsh scenes “Sand Hill Cranes Grazing on the Aransas Wildlife Refuge Plain,” which hangs prominently in the living area. The expansive living space includes a game area for a friendly game of pool on the custom “Tempo” maple pool table next to the inviting two sided fireplace. Lounge on the sofa that Mr. Wilson enjoys reminiscing about how it ended up costing him more than his first house. The magnificent wood pegged dining room table along with the impressive custom chef’s kitchen are the focal points of entertainment. Touting a stunning 300 degree view of Aransas bay or down the canal, moments of enjoying a morning cup of coffee, taking in the incredible sunrise over the bay are a morning “must.”
